The goal of the La Palma Interferometer (LPI) is to conduct groundbreaking observations using intensity interferometry at visible wavelengths, correlating photons observed with the five largest telescopes at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (ORM) in La Palma: the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG), Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT), Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), William Herschel Telescope (WHT), and Isaac Newton Telescope (INT). This instrument setup aims to achieve an angular resolution of 50 microarcseconds with a maximum baseline of 1.5 kilometers while enhancing sensitivity.

About the Workshop…

The goal of the workshop is to dedicate three days to sessions focused on each of the LPI systems, including science and management, in preparation for the LPI Conceptual Design Phase, which begins on June 1st, 2025.

SOC members in organizing these sessions:

  • Science and Simulations: Ángeles Pérez García*, Enrique Pérez, Paco Prada.
  • Telescopes and Instruments: Luca Di Fabrizio*, Jacob Clasen, Sergio Fernández, Arturo Manchado.
  • Telescopes Synchronization: Carmen Vélez*, Luca Di Fabrizio, Jacob Clasen, Sergio Fernández.
